CEO Fraud And Executive Impersonation Threats In The Gulf

CEO fraud and executive impersonation attacks are increasingly targeting Gulf organizations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Threat actors exploit high-value executives' digital visibility through LinkedIn profile cloning, WhatsApp impersonation, lookalike domain registration, and AI-generated deepfakes. Publicly documented incidents include Lazarus Group spear-phishing against Saudi financial and energy executives, Iranian-nexus attacks on Qatari state entities, and multi-stage BEC fraud in Dubai. Saudi Arabia's SAMA Cybersecurity Framework mandates controls against such social engineering risks. Early detection during the reconnaissance phase — monitoring for fake domains, dark web credential trading, and fraudulent social profiles — is presented as the key defensive strategy, with Cyble Vision promoted as the platform to enable it.
