# ClickHouse Workload for Microsoft Fabric: sub-second analytics on OneLake, now in public preview

**[ClickHouse](https://daily.dev/sources/clickhouse)** · 6 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

ClickHouse has launched a native workload for Microsoft Fabric, now in public preview, that provisions a dedicated ClickHouse Cloud service to accelerate analytics on OneLake data. It syncs OneLake tables as accelerated copies without custom ETL pipelines, offers an embedded SQL console, and provides governed read-only access for AI agents (Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot, MCP-compatible tools), Power BI, and Fabric notebooks. It runs on dedicated Azure compute so agent and dashboard workloads don't compete with Fabric capacity. Future plans include write-back to OneLake, continuous replication, permission sync, and full-text/vector search support.

## Questions this post answers

### How does the ClickHouse workload for Microsoft Fabric accelerate queries on OneLake data?

It syncs selected OneLake tables into a dedicated ClickHouse Cloud service provisioned inside your Fabric workspace, using ClickPipes managed ingestion, so full-table aggregations over billions of rows return in milliseconds. OneLake remains the source of truth while ClickHouse acts as an acceleration layer, with an embedded SQL console and governed read-only access for AI agents, Power BI, and Fabric notebooks.

### Does the ClickHouse Fabric workload support continuous sync from OneLake or just one-time snapshots?

In public preview, syncs from OneLake are point-in-time snapshots with no ingestion charges, not continuous replication. Continuous sync beyond snapshots, along with write-back to OneLake and permission sync, is listed as planned future work rather than something available now.

_Developers evaluating OneLake sync limits can follow ClickHouse Fabric updates on daily.dev._

### How can AI agents query ClickHouse data synced from Microsoft Fabric's OneLake?

Turning on agent access makes the dedicated ClickHouse Cloud service a governed, read-only endpoint reachable by Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, GitHub Copilot, and any MCP-compatible tool. This runs on dedicated compute billed through the Microsoft Marketplace, so agent and application queries never compete with existing Power BI capacity.
