The acquisition aims to ensure financial stability for these widely-used tools and to optimize Cloudflare's CDN for Vite-based web application frameworks. Cloudflare is committing $1 million to support Vite maintainers and contributors. Vite will become the foundation for Cloudflare's unified CLI (cf), with cf dev becoming a superset of vite dev. Vite currently sees ~129 million weekly downloads, and Cloudflare expects growth as AI agents increasingly use Vite+ for streamlined web app development.
