CNCF and SlashData's Q1 2026 State of Cloud Native Development report, based on 12,500+ developers across 100 countries, finds the global cloud native developer community has grown to 19.9 million — roughly 39% of all developers worldwide. This represents a 28% increase from 15.6 million in Q3 2025. Key findings include: 52% of backend developers are now cloud native, platform engineering is abstracting Kubernetes and containers through internal developer platforms (88% of backend devs work with some form of infrastructure standardization), and 7.3 million AI developers are now cloud native, using cloud infrastructure for model training, data pipelines, and inference.
