OpenAI Codex is now natively integrated into JetBrains AI chat, available in JetBrains IDEs version 2025.3 and later. Users can authenticate through a JetBrains AI subscription, ChatGPT account, or OpenAI API key. The integration is free for a limited time when accessed via JetBrains AI (starting January 22), after which it will consume AI Credits. Codex allows developers to delegate coding tasks with configurable autonomy levels, switch between OpenAI models, and adjust reasoning budgets directly within the IDE's AI chat interface.
