Documents are stored locally, allowing offline editing with automatic sync on reconnect. Collaboration is initiated via temporary invite links with no account required. The editor is powered by a custom Markdown-native editing kernel (~20 KB compressed), keeping Markdown as the native document format rather than an export layer. ## Content I’ve been building DOMD, a local-first Markdown editor with real-time collaboration. Documents live in the browser, and two people can edit the same Markdown document in real time. If someone goes offline, they can keep writing and their changes will sync after reconnecting. Collaboration starts with a temporary invite link, so the other person doesn’t need to create an account. The editor runs on a Markdown-native editing kernel I wrote from scratch, currently around 20 KB compressed. Markdown remains the underlying document format rather than being exported from a generic rich-text editor. The screenshot shows two browser windows editing the same document.
