The level of interest in using Rust for kernel development has increased significantly over the last year. The Rust-for-Linux project has added a full-time engineer and a student developer. The priority at the moment is bringing in more reviewers for the posted code. Challenges include merging code with duplicate functionality and resistance to upstreaming block-layer abstractions.
