Synaptics has unveiled the Coralboard, a development board built around the Astra SL2619 Edge AI SoC featuring a 1 TOPS Google Coral NPU (Synaptics Torq inference engine). The board includes 2GB DDR4 RAM, MIPI camera/display interfaces, mikroBUS and Qwiic connectors, optional Wi-Fi/Bluetooth via M.2, and runs Yocto Linux with the Synaptics Astra SDK. It supports hardware-accelerated inference of Google Gemma 3 270M models out of the box via the open-source MLIR-based Torq toolchain. Currently a limited edition showcased at Google I/O 2026 as part of an AI-powered jellyfish musical performance demo using YOLOv8 object detection and Google DeepMind's Lyria Realtime model, general availability and pricing are expected to be announced later this year.
