# Creating a Fabric Capacity from Fabric Capacity Monitoring

**[C\# Corner](https://daily.dev/sources/csharpcorner)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Microsoft Fabric lets administrators create a new capacity directly from the Manage Capacities page in the Monitor hub, instead of starting in the Azure portal. From Monitor > Capacities, selecting '+ New capacity' opens a configuration page requiring capacity type, name, Azure subscription, resource group, region, SKU size, and capacity admins. An Additional settings section allows configuring resource tags. Creating a capacity requires Fabric administrator access plus Azure permissions in the chosen subscription.

## Questions this post answers

### How do I create a new Microsoft Fabric capacity without going to the Azure portal?

Go to Monitor, then Capacities in the Microsoft Fabric portal to open the Manage Capacities page, and select '+ New capacity'. Configure the capacity type, name, Azure subscription, resource group, region, capacity SKU size, and capacity admins, then select Apply to provision it. You need Fabric administrator access and the relevant Azure permissions for the chosen subscription.

_Admins setting up Fabric capacity can track workflow changes like this on daily.dev._

### What permissions do I need to create a Fabric capacity?

You need Fabric administrator access along with the relevant Azure permissions to create capacity resources in the selected subscription. Capacity creation is also subject to applicable subscription and purchasing requirements in Azure.
