Two community members share how they built creative projects with Dagster. Edwin Weber, an independent data engineer from the Netherlands, built a modern data stack pet project using Dagster, dbt, DuckDB, and Delta tables to process Danish parliament data through medallion layers (bronze/silver/gold), running on a Hetzner cloud server for minimal cost. Parag Ekbote, an AI/Data Science student, built an open-source Python library integrating Dagster with Hugging Face Datasets, including a custom IO manager for streaming large datasets and a metadata management module. Both highlight Dagster's asset-based architecture, strong dbt integration, and quality documentation as key reasons for choosing it.
