The flaw allows any repository to auto-execute arbitrary code by placing a malicious file named git.exe at the repo root, which Cursor runs automatically on project load. Mindgard first reported the bug to Cursor in December 2025, but faced months of silence, a prematurely closed HackerOne report, and unanswered follow-ups through April 2026. After five months without a fix or meaningful response, Mindgard went public.
