# Cursor drops Solid, Oxlint speeds up React Compiler linting

**[Web Digest](https://daily.dev/sources/webdev_digest)** · 4 min read · 1 upvotes · 1 comments

## Summary

Solid.js's maintainer is publicly airing frustration that Cursor moved off Solid without ever talking to the team, reigniting a debate about AI coding agents entrenching React by training-data gravity alone. Oxlint shipped a Rust-native React Compiler lint rule with a measured 3.2x speedup. Safari Technology Preview 250 lands explicit resource management and streaming fetch uploads. WebKit's flex: 1 shorthand quietly renders zero-height panels that Playwright's bundled WebKit won't catch.

## Solid.js maintainer calls out Cursor for dropping Solid without warning

The Solid 2.0 release was funded and shaped by Cursor's credits and IDE over the past seven months, but the maintainer says Cursor never engaged with the Solid team before apparently moving off Solid internally, missing feedback that could have fixed bugs earlier. The bigger argument: AI agents are trained overwhelmingly on React, which self-reinforces React's dominance regardless of whether a tighter reactive model (like Solid's, or Bloomberg's similar fine-grained systems) is technically better suited to AI-generated code at scale. A related post frames an agent successfully migrating a React codebase to Solid 2.0 as a signal that framework choice itself may become less sticky once agents can handle full migrations. ## Oxlint gets a Rust-native React Compiler lint rule

Oxlint v1.70.0 replaced the Babel-plus-JS-plugin path for the react/react-compiler rule with a native Rust implementation, cutting lint time from 29.2s to 9.1s (3.2x), or up to 11x once other JS-based plugins are removed. v1.73.0 fixed a type-generics bug, and a new reportAllBailouts option flags every spot where React Compiler skips memoization. A build-time transform (oxc-transform-react) exists but is still at v0.0.1 and not wired into Rolldown/Vite over binary size concerns. [Read more](https://daily.dev/posts/MWK61HUNj)

## Safari Technology Preview 250 adds explicit resource management and streaming uploads

STP 250 brings `using`/`await using`, `Symbol.dispose`, and `DisposableStack` for guaranteed cleanup on scope exit, plus `Iterator.zip()`. `fetch()` can now upload `ReadableStream` bodies via a new `duplex` option, closing a long-standing gap for streaming uploads in Safari. New CSS lands too: `ruby-overhang: spaces`, `::marker` content, `text-decoration-inset`, and `canvastext` replacing the non-standard text color keyword. A separate Web Inspector fix addresses a Cache-Control debugging bug that's apparently been quietly wasting people's time. [Read more](https://daily.dev/posts/G06SgltBa)

## flex: 1 silently renders zero height in WKWebView, and your CI won't catch it

A dialog rendered as an empty shell in production despite passing every test. The cause: `flex: 1` expands to `flex-basis: 0%`, which needs a definite parent height to resolve. Inside an auto-height panel capped by max-height, that height is indefinite, and while the spec says browsers should fall back to content sizing in that case, Chromium does but WebKit doesn't, just rendering zero height instead. Screenshot tests missed it because Playwright's bundled WebKit differs from the system WKWebView actually shipped to users; the fix was switching to `flex: 1 1 auto` plus geometry-based e2e assertions. > bundled-browser screenshot tests give you coverage against a browser nobody ships. Playwright's WebKit and the system WKWebView diverge often enough that a flex-basis bug like this survives a green CI.
