The spike includes a 70% jump in botnet-driven discovery, 65% rise in automated reconnaissance, and significant increases in credential harvesting and DDoS-prep scanning. While Iran accounts for only 14% of source IPs, Russia (35%) and China (28%) dominate due to hacktivist groups leveraging proxy services in those countries. Iranian hacktivist group Handala, believed to be a front for Iran's MOIS, claimed responsibility for a data-wiping attack on medical tech firm Stryker.
