Traditional cybersecurity was designed around deterministic, predictable systems — but AI fundamentally breaks that assumption. Agentic AI systems make dynamic decisions, generate unpredictable outputs, and interact with external tools in ways developers can't fully anticipate, rendering prevention-first security models structurally insufficient. The piece argues security leaders must shift focus to runtime visibility as a primary control, not a fallback. Five priorities are outlined: rebuilding vulnerability management for AI-scale software development, elevating runtime monitoring, using AI to augment defensive operations, prioritizing resilience and blast-radius containment over perfect prevention, and repositioning security as a business enabler rather than a blocker during AI transformation.
