Dagster 1.0 has been officially released, marking a stable foundation for data platform orchestration. Rather than introducing breaking changes, this milestone signals that Dagster's core abstractions — ops, graphs, jobs, schedules, sensors, software-defined assets, materializations, and asset partitions — are now stable. Dagster differentiates itself as the first orchestrator designed for the full data development lifecycle (local dev through production) and the first to feature software-defined assets. The release reflects contributions from over 200 code contributors and four years of iterative development across 463 releases. Future plans include deeper declarative asset orchestration and expanded integrations.
