Niteshift, founded by two early Datadog engineers, has raised a $7M seed round led by Greylock to build an AI coding infrastructure platform that routes between multiple AI models (Claude Code, Codex, open-source options) rather than locking companies into a single vendor. The core thesis mirrors Datadog's early growth: just as e-commerce companies avoided AWS due to competitive conflict, enterprises will increasingly distrust AI model makers like Anthropic and OpenAI as those companies expand into vertical software markets. Niteshift charges per-minute infrastructure fees rather than selling tokens, positioning itself as neutral plumbing for AI coding agents. Competitors include Cursor, Cognition, Amazon Bedrock, and OpenRouter.
