Datatype is an OpenType variable font that renders inline charts directly from simple text expressions using ligature substitution — no JavaScript, no images, no rendering libraries required. It supports bar charts, line sparklines, and pie/progress indicators via a compact syntax like {b:30,70,50,90}. Two variable font axes control chart density and weight. Charts scale from 14px to 64px and can be embedded anywhere text appears, including tables, dashboards, and prose. Integration is done via CSS font-face, making it straightforward to add to any web project.
