Google Cloud has announced two AI-powered database agents as part of its Agentic Data Cloud initiative. The Database Onboarding Agent assists with Day 0 operations — helping users select the right database service (Cloud SQL, Spanner, AlloyDB, etc.) based on natural language descriptions of requirements, then generating provisioning commands. The Database Observability Agent handles Day 1/2 operations, correlating telemetry from Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Trace to diagnose issues like query hotspots, lock contention, and latency spikes, then suggesting or executing validated remediations. Both agents integrate with Gemini Cloud Assist, CLI, MCP servers, and developer IDEs, and support AlloyDB, Bigtable, Cloud SQL, Spanner, Firestore, and Memorystore.
