DeepL has acquired Mixhalo, a real-time audio streaming and translation startup founded in 2016 that raised over $39 million. Mixhalo was already a DeepL customer and the deal emerged organically after its CEO met DeepL's CTO at a customer dinner. The acquisition expands DeepL's translation suite into the live events space, complementing its existing voice-to-text and voice-to-voice products launched in 2024 and 2026. DeepL will also open a San Francisco office as part of the deal. Mixhalo's CEO noted that growing voice AI model companies were beginning to encroach on their pricing competitiveness, making the acquisition a strategic fit.
