# Deki Engine – ESP32 gets an open source Unity-style editor and C++ 2D game engine

## Summary

Deki Engine is an open-source C++ 2D game engine with a Unity-style visual editor for ESP32 microcontrollers. It supports building scenes visually with sprites, tilemaps, particles and state machines, then flashing them to a chosen board. It runs at 60 FPS on ESP32-S3 and also works on desktop via SDL3 or headless. Hardware packages cover the LilyGO T-Deck Plus and T-Display S3 AMOLED, with CrowPanel Advanced 7″ ESP32-P4 support coming. The editor uses C++26 static reflection for inspector fields and is released under Apache 2.0. It was developed by Jairo Baldán, a game programmer from Spain, as a side project, and the author notes that most commits appear to be co-authored by Claude, so the project relies heavily on AI assistance.
