DentaQuest, a major US dental benefits administrator serving 35 million customers, has confirmed a cybersecurity breach after the ShinyHunters extortion group leaked over 234 GB of stolen data following failed ransom negotiations. Have I Been Pwned analyzed the leaked dataset and identified 2.6 million exposed accounts containing email addresses, full names, phone numbers, government-issued IDs, health insurance information, genders, and dates of birth. DentaQuest states systems remain operational with limited disruption and that external experts are assisting the investigation. Affected individuals are advised to be vigilant against phishing and social engineering attacks.
