Innovation always helps to make it successful. Firefox vanilla didn't care. Devs built their own css, and a unknown dude step forward and totally changed the whole boring look of Firefox and make it interesting for everyone, even for normal people who just want to use simply. Even zen mods and sine mods give it superpower. And it was a success. Many people may not want it to change.
