StepSecurity's Dev Machine Guard now supports Linux (AMD64), completing cross-platform coverage alongside macOS and Windows. The tool scans developer machines for AI coding agents (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Codex), IDE extensions, MCP server configurations, npm and system packages, and compromised dependencies. It uses native Linux mechanisms including systemd user timers and package manager queries. A free community tier runs fully locally with no data leaving the machine, while the enterprise tier adds centralized dashboards, policy enforcement, and alerting. The release addresses a real visibility gap exploited in recent supply chain attacks like the Shai-Hulud npm worm and the Nx compromise, where identifying which developer machines had affected packages installed was critical.
