It is just transforming into a highly intelligent approach of building intelligent software delivery systems where AI agents and humans work together. We call it an AI software factory today. Yes! Seriously, gone are the days when a developer automated CI/CD and called it DevOps :) Today, if you are just automating CI/CD, its just old school. You know, companies are aiming to automate their entire SDLC with agents. Well, don't panic, human gates will be there to approve & make sure everything goes as planned. Seriously, think about a typical software development lifecycle - It starts with planning, writing the code, testing, deploying, and monitoring applications. We know that traditionally, these stages involve multiple tools, manual handoffs, and significant engineering effort. Now imagine specialized AI agents handling much of that work, from writing code and running tests to managing deployments, monitoring production, and investigating incidents. I believe you already use AI coding assistants and many other AI tools. But here's something I have learned while exploring and building agentic engineering workflows: AI agents alone don't make a software factory or build your DevOps pipeline. You need engineering context, agent orchestration, agent & skills registry, governance, observability, tool integrations, and most importantly, humans making critical decisions. That's where platforms like Port can help connect these moving parts and provide a common foundation for managing agentic workflows. The real opportunity isn't to remove developers from the software delivery process (developers chill), it's to reduce repetitive work, shorten feedback loops, and empower engineering teams to focus on higher-value problems & features that matter to the organization.
