# Discounts can now be included in Rollouts

**[Shopify Developer changelog](https://daily.dev/sources/shopifychangelog)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Shopify's Admin GraphQL API version 2026-10 introduces a read-only rollouts connection across Discount types, letting apps see when a discount is governed by a Rollout rather than only its native start/end dates. Apps that read discount data should query Discount.rollouts to get schedule and effective allocation info, since a discount's reach can be partial depending on traffic allocation. Apps need to request the appropriate scope, merge Rollout schedule data with existing discount fields, and account for the fact that partial-traffic Rollout activation only applies on the Online Store channel, while 100% effective traffic discounts are available across all sales channels. Pre-2026-10 API versions filter out discounts whose status doesn't match their native-date-inferred status.

## Questions this post answers

### How do I read discount availability correctly when using Shopify's Admin GraphQL API version 2026-10?

Query the new read-only Discount.rollouts connection alongside existing discount date fields, since a discount's native dates alone no longer describe its availability once it is part of a Rollout. You also need to read Rollout schedule fields, effective allocation, and treatment splits, because configured traffic allocation alone doesn't determine actual buyer reach. Apps must also request the relevant scope and may need merchant reauthorization.

### What happens to discount availability on different sales channels when a discount is part of a Shopify Rollout?

Discounts activated at 100% effective traffic remain available across all sales channels, subject to normal eligibility rules, but partial-traffic Rollout activation only applies on the Online Store channel. Outside of Rollouts, discounts continue to behave exactly as before, so this distinction only matters for discounts coordinated through Rollouts.
