# Do people still genuinely care about technical articles ?

**[DEV](https://daily.dev/sources/devto)** · 1 min read · 6 upvotes · 2 comments

## Summary

AI tools are changing how developers learn by providing fast, direct answers instead of reading long-form articles. This raises questions about whether technical writing still matters, or if we're trading depth and understanding for speed. While AI excels at quick solutions, human-written articles offer context, battle-tested experience, real engineering trade-offs, and accountability that AI cannot replicate. The future likely involves using AI for acceleration while preserving long-form writing for depth, judgment, and engineering maturity.

> I don't think anything has changed. There are folks who just want the answers and skip to the end and others who are genuinely interested. TLDR was created for this very reason and we have had that long before AI became a buzzword. Radio, Television, and the internet didn't destroy books, just like Spotify didn't kill vinyl. There will always be people who appreciate the context and the process.
