Canal+ is pre-installing the DStv Stream app on all new Samsung smart TVs sold across 18 African markets starting June 2026. The app appears on the Samsung home screen out of the box, alongside Netflix and YouTube, requiring no download. This move is part of Canal+'s broader strategy to shift DStv's distribution from satellite decoders to connected TV streaming, following its acquisition of MultiChoice and the shutdown of the Showmax service. The timing coincides with the FIFA World Cup 2026, and the arrangement extends an existing Samsung partnership already active in 40 markets across Europe, French-speaking Africa, and Asia.
