Dual-booting Windows and Linux made sense when hardware was weak, but modern machines with 16GB RAM and NVMe SSDs make virtualization a better alternative. Type 2 hypervisors like VMware and WSL offer strong isolation, security, and near-native performance without the risks of Windows updates breaking Linux boot entries or Secure Boot/BitLocker complications. The main exception is when full GPU power is needed for gaming or GPU-intensive workloads, where dual-booting still has an edge.
