# Dutch eyeo raises €40m to commercialise NCOS color-splitting image sensors

## Summary

Dutch startup eyeo has closed a €40m Series A led by Innovation Industries, bringing total funding to €55m. The company is commercialising its NCOS (Nanophotonic Color Splitting) image sensor technology, spun out of Belgian research institute imec. Unlike conventional Bayer-filter sensors that reject ~70% of incoming light, NCOS splits photons to the correct pixel, capturing three times more light. The technology is CMOS-compatible, backed by 26 patents, and has been validated at a commercial foundry with tier-one customers engaged. Funds will go toward IC design team expansion in Antwerp, next-gen 3D-stacked CMOS sensors, and commercial partnerships across mobile, XR, smart-city, industrial, and autonomous-driving markets.
