Dutch police and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) have dismantled a botnet comprising at least 17 million infected devices by seizing over 200 servers hosted at a Netherlands-based provider. The botnet is linked to Asocks, a proxy service advertising 7 million IP addresses and 100,000 clients. Authorities confirmed that device owners were unknowingly part of the criminal infrastructure. Basic protective measures recommended include changing default credentials, applying firmware updates, and disabling remote administration panels when not in use.
