The hybrid version, planned for later release, will pair a 500kW Scania diesel generator with electric motors rated at a combined 1800kW peak, plus a large battery. The strategy is meant to generate revenue and prove engineering credibility while avoiding the fate of Nikola, whose failed electric semi-truck program the company literally tows around as a cautionary symbol.
