Electron 43 has been released with Chromium 150.0.7871.46, Node.js v24.17.0, and V8 15.0. Key highlights include improved app startup performance via embedded Node.js startup snapshots and V8 bytecode caching, frameless windows with rounded corners on Linux by default, new macOS Notification management APIs (remove, removeAll, removeGroup), and file downloads now defaulting to the Downloads folder. Breaking changes include nativeImage pixel normalization to SRGB, WCO respecting native title bar layout on Linux, and removal of showHiddenFiles from the dialog API on Linux. Electron 43 will also be the last version to ship prebuilt binaries for 32-bit platforms (Windows x86 and Linux ARM).

Gosh cant electron just give up already. Bloated mess.

I tried Wails with Golang and looked at Tauri with Rust, and I never looked back. Electron is a mess especially if your target people include low-end PCs

For Electron apps, startup time has always been the biggest user-facing friction point—shaving milliseconds off cold starts across millions of desktop apps is a massive aggregate win. The Chromium 150 and Node.js 24.17 bumps also bring the latest security patches and performance improvements from upstream. The new macOS notification APIs are a nice quality-of-life upgrade—being able to programmatically clear notifications removes a long-standing pain point for chat and monitoring apps. And dropping 32-bit prebuilt binaries is the right call; it’s 2026, and the maintenance burden isn’t worth the tiny user base. Solid release all around, with the startup improvements being the standout feature.

It was a good pioneer. There are much better alternatives now.
