# Elementor Pro RCE hits WordPress, Laravel ships read-through filesystem migrations

**[PHP Digest](https://daily.dev/sources/php_digest)** · 4 min read · 1 upvotes · 1 comments

## Summary

An unauthenticated RCE in Elementor Pro's file upload handling is the week's clearest fire drill, affecting every version up to 4.2.1. Laravel 13.26 landed a clever but sharp-edged read-through filesystem driver for zero-downtime storage migrations, plus debounced queued listeners and Queue::forward(). PHP 8.6 locked its feature set at soft freeze, so library maintainers should be testing against Beta 1 now. Symfony had a quiet maintenance week but kept pushing its issue-first, AI-agent contribution experiment further into the open.

**TLDR:** An unauthenticated RCE in Elementor Pro's file upload handling is the week's clearest fire drill, affecting every version up to 4.2.1.

## Elementor Pro file upload bug allows unauthenticated RCE

CVE-2026-32475 (CVSS 9.0) let attackers slip a PHP file past the extension blocklist by submitting two file parts on one File Upload field, one with an empty filename, confusing Elementor's validation loop. Fixed in 4.2.2 on August 19, but patching doesn't remove anything already dropped on your server. If you run Elementor Pro forms with multiple file upload enabled, go check wp-content/uploads/elementor/forms/ for PHP files that shouldn't be there, even if you've already updated. ## Laravel's read-through filesystem driver ships, with a delete-resurrection footgun

Laravel 13.26 added a read-through disk driver that pairs a primary disk with a fallback, so reads fall back and quietly promote files to primary while writes and deletes only touch primary. That's genuinely useful for gradual S3-to-R2 style migrations without a bulk sync window, but because deletes never touch the fallback, deleting a promoted file doesn't kill it: the next read resurrects it from the old bucket. Same release also brought debounced queued event listeners via #[DebounceFor] and Queue::forward() for rerouting queues without touching job classes. ## PHP 8.6 hits soft feature freeze

Beta 1 landed August 13, locking in partial function application, a new clamp() function, closure caching for stateless closures, and floating-point endianness modifiers for pack()/unpack(). A list() reference assignment RFC failed on a 21-21 tie. RC1 is targeted for September 24 and GA for November 19, so now's the time to test libraries against Beta 1 and check the deprecation list against your codebase. ## Socket's PHP and Composer scanning hits beta amid rising Packagist supply-chain attacks

Socket moved PHP/Composer support from experimental to beta and made reachability analysis generally available for Team plans and above, timed against a real string of incidents: a Mini Shai-Hulud variant jumping from npm to Packagist via a compromised Intercom package, a malicious postinstall hook in 700+ GitHub repos, and trojanized packages disguised as Laravel utilities. Precomputed Reachability claims to flag around 60% of transitive vulnerabilities as irrelevant using just the Composer manifest, and Full Application Reachability claims up to 90% false-positive elimination by tracing actual call paths through Laravel and Symfony's dynamic instantiation.
