A meal prep founder built a $200K inventory platform for $10K. That’s the sentence that explains why Emergent just raised $130M at a $1.5 billion valuation, roughly a year after launching.
The Series C was led by Creaegis, with Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator all participating. Total funding is now $230M. Revenue is running at $120M annualized, up 70% in four months. Over 12 million apps have been built on the platform.
The numbers are striking, but the more interesting detail is who’s actually building. Emergent says 70% of its 200,000 paying customers have never written code. The founders, brothers Mukund and Madhav Jha, pitched it as an “engineering team in a box” for non-technical entrepreneurs and small businesses. It handles deployment, hosting, testing, and debugging. You describe what you want; it builds the thing.
Omar Syed, who has built complex apps on the platform himself, put it plainly: the valuation isn’t the story. Business owners turning how they work into software is the story.
Emergent competes most directly with Lovable and Replit, though it’s carved out a distinct lane by targeting SMBs and solo founders rather than developers who just want to move faster. That positioning seems to be working, at least by the metrics they’re sharing.
The fresh capital goes toward product development, AI agent workflow improvements, and geographic expansion, including a possible European office. The company is also running a $100K prize pool for the top builders on the platform through July 21, which is either a smart community play or a very cheap way to generate case studies. Probably both.
The valuation is a five-fold jump in six months. Whether that’s a sign of genuine product-market fit or another peak-of-the-cycle number is the question nobody in the press release is asking.
