Microsoft will end support for .NET 8 and .NET 9 on November 10, 2026. After that date, no servicing updates, security fixes, or technical support will be provided. Microsoft recommends upgrading to .NET 10, an LTS release supported through November 2028. Upgrading involves changing the TargetFramework property in project files to net10.0 and updating development and hosting environments. Applications on unsupported versions will continue to run but will be exposed to unpatched security vulnerabilities. Visual Studio 2022 will also mark .NET 8 and .NET 9 components as out of support in a future update.

I feel like Microsoft is pushing these versions out to fast. Each version release was close to 1 year ahead of the previous release. Why not focus on a particular version release with a support time frame of 5 years? Stop all this moving from one version to the next so fast.

Starting to feel like JavaScript environments at this point

To the people who are saying that the support duration is quite short:

In comparison, enterprise-grade JS/TS frameworks, for example, Angular has an 18-month support policy.

The team is going very fast; some years ago the .net 9 version was new. I expect that the migration is very fast and a bit conflictive.

Hi, I have a question, eventually they will stop .Net 10 too, what are we supposed to do ? Do we have to update the code base regularly ?
