# Enterprise Managed Users is now generally available

**[Vercel](https://daily.dev/sources/vercel)** · 2 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Vercel has made Enterprise Managed Users (EMU) generally available, giving organizations centralized control over Vercel accounts on their verified domains. With EMU enabled, sign-in is restricted to SAML SSO only — email OTP, GitHub, Google, and GitLab login methods are disabled for managed accounts. Account provisioning and lifecycle management are handled automatically via Directory Sync (SCIM). Profile settings are controlled through the identity provider rather than by individual users. Self-serve enablement is available in Team Settings under Security & Privacy. The feature requires an Enterprise plan, enforced SAML SSO, active Directory Sync, and at least one verified domain. Two features remain in beta: a guided transition flow for existing personal accounts on newly managed domains, and automatic archiving of inactive personal accounts upon SSO sign-in.

## Questions this post answers

### What is Enterprise Managed Users in Vercel and how does it change account sign-in?

Enterprise Managed Users (EMU) is a Vercel feature, now generally available, that makes an organization's identity provider the sole authentication source for accounts on verified domains. Managed users can only sign in via SAML SSO; email OTP, GitHub, Google, and GitLab logins stop working for those accounts. It requires an Enterprise plan, enforced SAML SSO, active Directory Sync, and a verified domain.

### How does SCIM Directory Sync manage user accounts in Vercel's Enterprise Managed Users feature?

Directory Sync uses SCIM provisioning to automatically create, update, and deprovision managed user accounts, keeping them synced with the organization's identity provider. Profile settings are controlled through the IdP rather than by individual users, and the feature can be enabled per verified domain, then extended across multiple eligible teams in one step from Team Settings.

_Admins evaluating SCIM-based provisioning workflows can follow updates like this on daily.dev._

### What happens to existing personal Vercel accounts when a domain becomes Enterprise Managed?

Members with an existing personal account on a newly managed domain are prompted to either add a personal email to keep their hobby projects or delete the account, then continue through SSO. Personal accounts with no content or activity are archived automatically, and their owners land in a new managed account the next time they sign in via SSO. This transition feature is in beta, available on request.
