Espressif has launched the ESP32-C61-MINI-1 and ESP32-C61-MINI-1U modules, available on AliExpress for around $2 each. Based on the ESP32-C61 SoC, these modules feature a single-core 32-bit RISC-V processor at up to 160 MHz, 320KB SRAM, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth LE 5.3, and a range of peripherals across 53 pads. Two antenna variants are offered: an on-board PCB antenna (MINI-1) and an external antenna connector (MINI-1U). Software support includes ESP-IDF v6.0, Arduino (with some setup complexity), and an alpha CircuitPython firmware. A development board (ESP32-C61-DevKitC-1-N8R2) is also available for about $9–$12. Additionally, Espressif announced mass production of the more powerful ESP32-S31 SoC and modules.
