Espressif Systems has released ESP RainMaker Neo, an open-source device-to-cloud-to-phone IoT platform stack. It is the self-hosted, open-source counterpart to the managed ESP RainMaker Classic service introduced in 2020. Built on AWS Serverless architecture, it gives customers full control by running on their own AWS instances. The complete stack — cloud backend, firmware SDK, mobile app (iOS/Android), TypeScript app SDK, and admin dashboard — is released under Apache License 2.0 across four GitHub repositories. Three deployment options are available: a public deployment on Espressif's account, a packaged deployment on your own AWS account, or a full build-from-source approach. Existing ESP RainMaker Classic deployments cannot be directly migrated and Neo is recommended only for new deployments.
