The Commission says these features contribute to compulsive use and that Meta failed to adequately assess risks to users' mental and physical wellbeing, particularly for minors. Meta is now required to disable these features by default and modify its recommendation algorithm, or face fines of up to 6% of its global annual turnover. This is the second DSA breach finding against Meta in 2026, following an April ruling over underage access.
