Mira Murati's AI startup Thinking Machines Lab has signed a new multi-billion-dollar deal with Google Cloud for AI infrastructure, including access to systems powered by Nvidia's latest GB300 GPUs. The deal, valued in the single-digit billions, supports the startup's reinforcement learning workloads used by its Tinker product — a tool that automates creation of custom frontier AI models. Thinking Machines is among the first Google Cloud customers to access GB300-powered systems. The deal is non-exclusive, but signals Google's strategy to lock in fast-growing frontier AI labs early, amid fierce competition from Amazon, which also recently secured a major deal with Anthropic.
