# Grafana 12 Unveiled: Enhancements in Observability, Dashboard Management, and More

Grafana Labs has released Grafana 12, introducing a suite of updates to its open-source visualization platform designed to enhance observability, dashboard management, and integration into DevOps workflows. Key features of the new version focus on managing dashboards as code, utilizing Git integration for efficient version control and collaboration.

## Observability as Code

With the emphasis on observability as code, Grafana 12 allows users to manage dashboards, alerts, and other resources programmatically. This functionality is supported by robust APIs and a new dashboard schema, encouraging automation and streamlined workflows.

**Git Sync for Version Control**

One of the standout features is the Git Sync, available as part of Grafana 12, enabling users to manage dashboards with Git integration. This makes saving, tracking, and managing dashboard changes much simpler, using GitHub pull requests for improved version control. While the feature is easy to set up, it's recommended to experiment in development environments, as it's still regarded as experimental.

## Grafana Assistant and Enhanced Workflow Tools

To further enhance user interaction, Grafana Labs introduces the Grafana Assistant powered by AI, simplifying dashboard creation and user guidance. Dynamic Dashboards are introduced, allowing for customizable user experiences with tabs and conditional logic.

**Drilldown Tools and Expanded APIs**

The new updates expand Grafana's Drilldown tools for traces, contributing to more detailed observability insights. Additionally, Grafana Labs has introduced more consistent APIs and support for SQL expressions, alongside adding compatibility with 15 new data sources.

## Integration and Community Engagement

The company is donating its Belya instrumentation tool to the OpenTelemetry project, aligning with industry standards and enhancing workflow synchronization. New Terraform resources have been launched for better consistency, while Grafana CLI provides a streamlined interface for automation.

Feedback regarding these enhancements is actively encouraged through Grafana Labs Community Slack, ensuring that users can contribute to the platform's continuous improvement.

## Load Testing and Expanded Capabilities

Grafana k6 1.0 is now available for load testing, providing native TypeScript support and improved test metrics. These enhancements align with Grafana Labs' goal of making its platform more resilient and adaptable to diverse user needs.

Overall, Grafana 12 represents a significant step forward in the realm of dashboard management and observability, offering comprehensive tools and integrations for a seamless user experience.
