Azure has introduced a new ExpressRoute scalable gateway SKU that replaces fixed-throughput SKUs (previously capped at 10 Gbps). The new scale SKU lets you configure minimum and maximum scale units, each providing 1 Gbps of throughput. In automatic mode, the gateway dynamically adjusts the number of instances based on throughput, CPU usage, and packet volume, so you only pay for the capacity you actually use. Migration from existing zone-redundant SKUs to the new scalable SKU is possible without downtime.
