A maker built a beautifully crafted solder fume extractor using Nixie tubes, a custom PCB with an ATMega microcontroller, and MOSFETs to drive the display. The enclosure is 3D-printed from Wood PLA, stained to convincingly resemble real wood. Two Nixie digits show the fan's RPM as a percentage of maximum, and a salvaged READY/NOT READY indicator from a Panavia Tornado aircraft signals when the fan reaches its set speed.
