While the order is worded to apply to all foreign manufacturers regardless of origin, the clear political target is China. Equipment on the Covered List cannot receive FCC authorization, which is required for US market access — the same mechanism used against DJI and Huawei. A conditional approval pathway exists but routes vetting through the Pentagon and DHS. The ban only affects new device models seeking authorization, not existing approved products or government purchases. The core concern is that networked robots and inverters could be used for remote surveillance or sabotage by foreign actors. The longer-term challenge is that China dominates both supply chains, and blocking imports does not automatically create domestic alternatives. ## Full article daily.dev links to this article rather than hosting it.
