# Fedora Retiring Its Deepin Desktop Packages

**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 1 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Fedora's Engineering and Steering Committee (FESCo) has voted to retire all Deepin desktop environment packages from Fedora Linux. The decision follows a year-long security review triggered by similar concerns that led SUSE/openSUSE to remove Deepin packages a year earlier. Contributing factors include difficulties contacting Deepin package maintainers and a lack of clear policy for handling such situations. The retirement also includes a directive to prevent re-addition of these packages unless they pass a full review again.
