She had been on medical leave since April and will transition to a part-time adviser role. Her responsibilities will be divided among co-founder Greg Brockman (product strategy), CFO Sarah Friar, and CSO Jason Kwon. Simo joined OpenAI just over a year ago from Instacart and was tasked with transforming the research organization into a product-and-sales-driven company.
