JetBrains has released Figma Connect for WebStorm 2026.2.1, a new integration that brings Figma design files directly into the IDE via Figma MCP. Developers can browse the Figma layer tree, select nodes, and automatically attach design context to AI chat sessions without switching tabs. The integration eliminates manual context-copying workflows and helps AI agents generate code that matches the actual design system — using the correct shadcn/ui components, Base UI primitives, or internal design tokens — rather than generic approximations. Setup is one-time and maintained across WebStorm releases. JetBrains describes this as the first stage of a broader design-to-code workflow initiative.
