Firefox 148 ships with an 'AI kill switch' letting users disable all AI features—chatbot prompts, AI-generated link summaries, and downloaded AI models—via Settings > AI Controls. Once disabled, future updates won't re-enable them. The release also adds selective AI blocking to preserve on-device features like translations while blocking cloud services, opt-out controls for remote updates, Trusted Types API and Sanitizer API support to mitigate XSS attacks, improved screen reader support for math in PDFs, Firefox Backup on Windows 10, Vietnamese and Traditional Chinese translation, new tab wallpapers in container tabs, and Service Worker support for WebGPU.
