# Fixing An Onkyo Receiver With Multiple Faults

**[Hackaday](https://daily.dev/sources/hackaday)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

A repair walkthrough of an Onkyo SR806 receiver suffering from two faults: digital distortion (fixed by recapping the digital processing board) and a persistent 100 Hz mains hum. The hum was traced through schematics and community help to a failed electrolytic capacitor on the +22V rail, placed by the manufacturer directly behind a heat-generating bridge rectifier and rated only 85°C. The bulged Nichicon capacitor was replaced along with other similarly under-spec'd caps using 105°C rated electrolytics, fully restoring the receiver.
