Flipper Devices is calling for community contributions to help build Flipper One, an open Linux platform distinct from the Flipper Zero. The device is built around a Rockchip RK3576 ARM SoC with 8 GB RAM and a Raspberry Pi RP2350 MCU in a dual-processor architecture. It targets networking, hardware experimentation, SDR analysis, and local LLM support, with modular interfaces including M.2, PCIe, USB 3.1, and SATA. Key challenges include achieving full mainline Linux kernel support for the RK3576, upstreaming custom dual-processor drivers, building a new small-screen Linux UI (Flipper OS/FlipCTL), and resolving hardware compatibility issues. Collabora is assisting with RK3576 mainline kernel support. The project is still in active development with unresolved architectural decisions and financial risks.
